Cookie Policy

Cookies and browser storage are small pieces of information a website keeps in your browser. Shrimmage uses them to work: to keep you signed in, to let a scorekeeper tablet keep score, to save a game in progress, and to remember settings you chose. The one thing we ask about is usage recording — whether we may record how you use the site, to find what's broken or confusing. Nothing here is used for advertising, and nothing follows you to other websites.
Cookies
| Name | Set by | What it's for | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
__session, __client_uat, __refresh (and suffixed variants) | Clerk, our sign-in provider | Keep you signed in, and tell a signed-in visit from a signed-out one. | Renewed while you use the Service; cleared when you sign out |
__clerk_handshake, __clerk_handshake_nonce, __clerk_redirect_count | Clerk | Complete a sign-in safely, and stop redirect loops. | Seconds |
__client (on Clerk's sign-in subdomain) | Clerk | Recognize your browser to Clerk's sign-in service. | Until you sign out |
shrimmage_station | Us | A scorekeeper tablet's credential, so a paired tablet can keep score without anybody signing in. Only set on a tablet an organizer pairs. | 90 days, or until the tablet is unpaired |
activeOrg | Us | Which club an organizer who runs more than one is currently working in. | 1 year |
theme | Us | Light or dark mode. Everyone starts in dark; this remembers your choice. | 1 year |
navPinned | Us | Keeps the side menu pinned open, when you pin it. | 1 year, or until you unpin it |
findView | Us | Shows Find a Competition as a list rather than tiles, when you choose List. | 1 year, or until you choose Tiles |
__cf_bm, cf_clearance | Cloudflare, our network provider | May be set to tell people from automated traffic and block attacks. | 30 minutes to a day |
Browser Storage
Some things are kept in your browser's local or session storage instead. They stay on your device; we never read them from our servers.
| Name | Set by | What it's for | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
shrimmage:score:…, shrimmage:basic-score:… (one per game) | Local storage | The game you're scoring, bag by bag, so a phone or tablet that drops out can pick up where it left off. | Removed when you finish with the game |
shrimmage:score:mode:… | Local storage | Which scoreboard you picked for a game. | Until cleared |
shrimmage:score:style:… | Local storage | Which Ultra keypad — Exacto or In/On — a game is being scored with. | Until cleared |
shrimmage:scoreboard-animations, shrimmage:scoreboard-full-screen | Local storage | Your scoreboard settings on this device. | Until cleared |
shrimmage:cc:leagues-open | Local storage | Whether a panel on the organizer's command center is open or closed. | Until cleared |
swap-final-excluded:… | Local storage | That an organizer dismissed a warning on a tournament's final. | Until cleared |
shrimmage:notice-dismissed:… | Local storage | Which notices you closed — a rule a league is under, or the confirmation that your team is registered — so they stay closed on this device. | Until cleared |
dashboard-greeting | Local storage | Which sign-in your dashboard last greeted (its ID, which can't be used to sign in) and what it said, so the first visit after you sign in says "Welcome" and the ones after it don't repeat a greeting. | Until cleared; rewritten on each dashboard visit, and not removed when you sign out |
shrimmage:schedule-view-changed | Session storage | Returns an organizer to the top of the schedule after rebuilding it. | Seconds |
game-up-dismissed | Session storage | Which "your game is up" banners you closed, so a reload doesn't bring them back. | Until you close the tab |
shrimmage:global-stats-view | Session storage | Which Global Stats tab and filters you last looked at, so "← Global Stats" on a player's or dynasty's page takes you back to them. | Until you close the tab |
__ph_opt_in_out_… | Local storage | Your answer to the usage-recording question, so we only ask once. | Until you change it below, or clear this site's data |
ph_… (several) | Local and session storage, only if you allow usage recording | PostHog's ID for this browser, this visit and this tab, so a recording follows you from page to page — and, once you sign in, to your account. | Until you turn usage recording off or clear this site's data; the visit and tab ones until you close the tab |
seenSurvey_…, lastSeenSurveyDate, inProgressSurvey_… | Local storage, only if you allow usage recording | Which of our short feedback questions you've already seen or started, so we don't ask twice. | Until cleared |
Game Alerts (a service worker and a push subscription) | Your browser, only if you turn on Game Alerts | Lets us send a notification to this device when your game is on a board. The browser holds the subscription and we keep a copy to send to. | Until you turn it off on your Account page or clear this site's data |
Usage Recording
When you first arrive, we ask whether we may record how you use the site. We use what it shows — the pages people open, what they tap, where they get stuck, and the errors they run into — to fix what's broken or confusing. The recording is made by PostHog, an analytics service that processes it for us (see the Privacy Policy).
- If you allow it, PostHog records the pages you open, what you click or tap, which steps of signing up and joining you finish, errors, and a replay of the screen as you use it, linked to your account once you sign in. What you type into a form is never recorded. Email addresses, and the codes and links that let somebody into a league or onto a scorekeeper tablet, are blanked or removed before anything leaves your browser.
- If you don't, we count only visits and errors, anonymously: no ID is kept in your browser and nothing is replayed.
- PostHog never records a scorekeeper tablet's scoreboard.
Other Sites
- Payments happen on Stripe's own checkout pages, where Stripe sets its own cookies under its own policy. None are set on our site.
- Fonts are served from our own servers, not from Google or any other font service.
- Sponsor logos load from the website each organizer chose. That website sees your IP address when the image loads; we tell your browser not to send it the page you were on.
Your Choices
You can change your answer about usage recording at any time, under Usage Recording above. You can also block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings. If you block the ones above, signing in and scoring won't work, and settings like dark mode won't be remembered; clearing site data also clears your usage-recording answer, so we'll ask again. For everything else we do with your information, see the Privacy Policy. Questions: [email protected].
